I have some actual news that you all might be interested in.
First, one of my favorite sff conventions is FOGcon (aka Friends Of Genre con, which also takes place in a foggy area near San Francisco). Because of the pandemic, the FOGcon organizers have been holding online mini events, and this Saturday, April 30 from 5:00 to 7:30 PST, there will be a reading of science fiction poetry. The main authors reading their work will be Nisi Shawl and Karen Joy Fowler, but there will be additional authors reading their work as well. One of them will be me.
You can read more about it here https://fogcon.org/, and you can register for the event for free on Eventbrite at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/fogcon-authors-read-featuring-nisi-shawl-and-karen-joy-fowler-tickets-308369701077
And just to get you into the science fiction and poetry mood, here’s a link to a science fiction poem I wrote, “A Cold, Cold Summer’s Day”. As a challenge, I took the final words from a famous sonnet by Shakespeare (I’d tell you which one, but part of the fun is guessing) and wrote my own sonnet using Shakespeare’s line endings. You can read it here: A Cold, Cold Summer’s Day
I hope you are all doing well out there, and I hope you enjoy the poetry.
