In the last three months I’ve had some of my fiction published, and I thought I’d let you know about it.
First up is my story “A Bayesian Analysis of Wishes”, which is a fantasy story about gods interfering in lives which may not be going so well. You can find it in the Winter Edition #2 of the magazine Parsec.
Neil Gaiman wrote a very good poem that I liked a lot. I had an illustrated poster of it framed on my wall, so I got to see it frequently. You can watch him read it here: Neil Gaiman’s poem “The Day the Saucers Came”. Over time, that last line began to bother me, because in the poster the narrator was clearly male, and I felt somewhat stung by it, so I did what poets have done for centuries and wrote a response.
My poem “The Other Day the Saucers Came” appeared in Fantasy Magazine, December 2021 (issue 74). When it came out I tweeted @neilhimself. He said he liked it, and we had some tweets back and forth. It turned out he had no intention of gender when he wrote the poem (which is certainly in keeping with his character), and he liked the idea of poets responding to each other’s work. So that was cool.
And on February 10, Daily Science Fiction published by story “Super. Hero.”, which I found out about because I got my first fan letter from a reader. This one’s very short, but may be triggering.
That’s all I had in the pipeline, so I’d better get writing. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy these.
